Extended Schools
An Extended School is one that works with local organisations to offer access to, out of school hours activities for your children, family and parenting support and opportunities for you to learn with your child, a range of specialist support services, ICT, sport and art facilities, adult and vocational learning.
Some schools in West Sussex already offer many of these services, whilst others such as St James are choosing to give out information on where they can be found.
Schools work with local organisations, e.g. leisure centres and local community groups, to offer a wide range of before and after school clubs, including holiday activities: These can include:
Arts and creative activities, e.g. dance, drama, music, arts and crafts, Sports and recreational and play activities, e.g. football, running, other clubs, such as foreign languages, volunteering activities and community opportunities and visits to museums, galleries and places of interest.
